How to Get to Todos Santos
Finding transportation to Todos Santos is fairly easy. There are two modern airports in Baja California that are considerably close Todos Santos; both airports cater to international flights.
The first one, Marquez de Leon Airport, is in the capital of La Paz (international air code LAP). While not particularly a popular airport (at least for American flights) off-season, Marquez de Leon generally is best for those coming from the West Coast. It’s a very small airport, but is very convenient in that it provides car rental from all major rental companies as well as buses to places in and out of La Paz. From Marquez de Leon Airport, one can drive (or take a bus) south to Todos Santos – an hour-long trip by land. One-way taxicab trips cost eighty US dollars.
The second international airport, Los Cabos Airport, is located in the edges of San Jose del Cabo (international flight code SJD). It is owned by private investors, and is considerably larger and more popular than Marquez de Leon Airport. It also hosts a myriad of international airlines and major carriers including Alaska, Delta Northwest, Mexicana, Continental and America West. Los Cabos Airport provides bus and taxicab terminals as well as car rentals from all major rental firms. A taxicab ride from the airport to Todos Santos (going north) takes an hour and a half, and usually costs about a hundred US dollars. Trips to Todos Santos by bus takes longer; one has to take a bus to Cabo San Lucas to find a bus to Todos Santos.
It’s always best to rent a car when traveling to Todos Santos, especially if the point of the vacation is to do some major exploring. This being the case, one must be sure to have booked the trip from travel agencies that offer discounts on car rental as well as providing oneself with Mexican insurance (because American insurance won’t cut it in foreign soil).
It’s this easy to find yourself in Todos Santos.
